Who we are.

We know that to Add Good outside our organization, we must first add Good inside. This means investing in our partners and opportunities for them to succeed. Through programs like The Creative Accelerator and the BarkleyOKRP Fellowship, we don’t just make a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion; we make a difference within our walls and in the industry by recruiting and retaining qualified employees from diverse backgrounds at all levels in our organization.

How we do it.

We assess our organization's performance, inside and out, against BarkleyOKRP’s five dimensions of diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging.

Keeping true to what we believe, our five dimensions impact the full spectrum of a whole brand.

Everything we do furthers our commitment to our people, planet, clients, community, and planet to help shape a more equitable, inclusive, and sustainable place to live.

  • People: We’ve committed to 25% agency diversity and 85% BIPOC retention by the year 2025.

  • Planet: We’ve committed to reducing emissions by 50% by 2030 and committed to 100% renewable energy.

  • Clients: 32% of our revenue is from Impact Clients with a mission, model, and action moving the SDGs forward.

  • Community: We've contributed 1.5% of our revenue to causes advancing education and social justice.

What we believe.

BarkleyOKRP believes in fostering, cultivating, and preserving a culture of diversity and inclusion. We recognize our employees as partners and so refer to them as such. Our partners are the most valuable asset we have. This belief is upheld through our company values.

  • We over me

  • Demand diversity

  • Act like an entrepreneur

Ongoing communications

Tools for Rocket People: Every month, all partners receive a “Tools For Rocket People” email. This email contains resources regarding best practices in diversity work as well as personal identity development to show our employees that we not only value the work they produce on our team but, more importantly, value them as individuals.

This email contains resources regarding best practices in diversity work as well as personal identity development to show our partners that we not only value the work they produce on our team but, more importantly, value them as individuals. This newsletter contains a Watch, Listen, Read, Do, and Inspire section with various hyperlinks to quench the intellectual curiosity of our employees and provide best practices in diversity work.

Programming opportunities

The Creative Accelerator (TCA): This program is intended to create inroads into our industry from underrepresented populations and will be centered around supporting BIPOC Creatives. It is a one-year salaried position with full benefits where we fast-track young creatives and prepare them for a rewarding creative career in advertising. At the end of the year, we expect you to have the skillset and portfolio of creative work to be hired at a top agency.

Creative Accelerator benefits:

  • Skip portfolio school entirely and join Barkley for a salaried year-long training program.

  • Learn the basics of your craft, learn mentorship and development skills, build a portfolio, and get hired (somewhere, but we'd love for it to be at Barkley) after your year with us.

The BarkleyOKRP Fellowship: Forge inroads of BIPOC talent at the leadership ranks of the agency through the recognition and cultivation of relevant, transferable skills to the industry.

Fellowship benefits:

  • Leadership opportunities in advertising through salaried, accelerated, and hands-on experiences.

  • Professional growth through formal and informal development.

  • Entry to a new field through transferable skills instead of experience.

  • Contribute to our company's journey in improving diversity, equality, inclusivity, and belonging.

This program is a new investment with the ultimate goal of fostering representation in the industry. Our partners will mentor and develop diverse talent with transferable skills to assume a Director+ level role within BarkleyOKRP. In this way, BarkleyOKRP maintains its integrity and goal of making sure diversity is present not only in the company's junior-level positions but also in the senior positions.
