Falling for Football.

'Tis the postseason.

The Kansas City Chiefs want to get fans, living inside & outside Kansas City, who are casually engaged with the NFL during the playoffs to increase and strengthen their relationship with the Chiefs.

Challenge

Barkley set out to drive social engagement and PR conversations among casual fans ahead of the Kansas City Chiefs playoff game.

Modern Consumer Insight

After the marathon of the Holiday season, it’s easy to fall into the January Blues. But, for a Chiefs fan, the postseason feels as exciting as a kid on Christmas morning.

Solution

Tis the Postseason. Officially, the holidays are over. But for Chiefs fans, the most wonderful time of the year has just arrived. All that was missing was a holiday Hallmark movie to make it official. Introducing “Falling For Football.” Barkley created a made-for-TV style trailer featuring Hallmark Channel celebs, actual Chiefs players, and enough Easter eggs to keep all kinds of fans engaged.

To create the Chiefs-centric tribute to the genre, we cast Hallmark Movie royalty Tyler Hynes and Janel Parrish to anchor the story of a woman who has lost the "postseason spirit" and a die-hard Chiefs fan helping her rediscover it while also finding love in the process.

They are joined by current and former Chiefs players, including Tommy Townsend, Creed Humphrey, Trey Smith, and Dante Hall. Celebrities include Melissa Ethridge, Rob Riggle, Tech N9ne, Kameron Marlowe, Donna Kelce, and on-air personalities Mitch Holthus and Kimmi Chex.

To nail the comedic tone, Barkley partnered with director and Funny or Die alum, Parker Seaman, along with SNL Digital Shorts editor Ryan Spears.
